Christmas is a tough time for our widows in Kenya. Christmas is painful, sad, and lonely time and it does not matter how many people that surround you. Also, it is very difficult and depressing when they cannot afford food at this festive period. Christmas is a season of celebration not just Christmas.
With the donations we received from our supporters, family, and friends we were able to provide food for 168 widows in Kenya with the support of our partners organisation, Come together Widows and Orphan Organisation in Kenya.
Bereavement is a deeply personal experience that is also shaped by one’s socio-cultural context. However, some Widows from Africa suffer from lack of financial need and especially at festival period like Christmas it impacts negatively on them. Lack of food during Christmas season could predispose bereaved spouses to complicated grief, which is characterized as by debilitating prolonged bereavement
These widows were so grateful with the support from our charity at a time of need.
Over the Christmas period our widows received food with the donations made, we supplied them with: rice, live chicken, tomato’s and others to provide these widows and families with fresh meals and maybe even a Christmas meal for some. Popular Christmas foods can include a barbecue which can be a goat, sheep, beef or chicken. This is eaten with rice and chapati flat bread. The big Christmas meal is called 'nyama choma' We held a workshop in Kenya and met 100s of wonderful women struggling with poverty .
We worked in partnership with COMETOGETHER WIDOWS AND ORPHANS ORGANIZATION to be able to achieve this and we are very grateful to all of our donors and supporters, without you all, we couldn’t provide Christmas hampers to 100s of widows and others in need.
Everything donated is greatly appriciated and every little bit helps.
We are always here to support you- please get in touch if you need any support or help.
